I have a factory posi that I want to put in my 88 SS,but last time I assembled a rear end it howled every time it wasn't under engine load. I don't have gears yet,but I would still like to know the pr

What did you use for rear end gears? Did you change them, or did you reuse the old ones? Did it howl immediately after?

i've got a 7.5 26 spline posi unit with 4:11 richmond gears alum housing cover and all the set up tools that i'll sell .there new only used for a few burnouts before i put in a 9 "................

It was the old rear end I pulled out of the firebird,it howled immediately. I tried looseinh,tightening one side and the other,no change..
I have the posi unit,just need to get 3:42 or something close to put in.

I've noticed that aftermarket ring and pinion sets do not have as much of a polished finish and tend to make more noise... you did check the gear mesh?

I follwed the instructions upon install,I used the included paste,everything seemed ok,I had the inch pounds correct,I'm going to try again with this car,so here's hoping.
